GENERAL
We prepare fresh, wholesome and tasty lunch boxes for children and deliver these to schools daily.
For every lunch box you buy from us, we give a healthy meal to food-insecure buddy via our partner organisation lunchboxfund.org.
It’s really easy, you order online, and we’ll take care of the rest!
- You choose your lunchbox preferences online, and select the school you want to get it delivered to (limited delivery points for the launch period) and make payment via EFT or our secure payment option, Payfast or Snapscan.
- One we received your order, we will freshly prepare your child’s lunch box early every morning during the subscription term.
- We deliver it to your child’s school every morning in time for their morning snack.
- Your little one enjoys really nutritious and yummy food.
- For every lunch you buy from us, we give a meal to a food-insecure buddy via our partner organisation lunchboxfund.org.
We prepare our meals from our professional chemical-free kitchen space in Salt River, Cape Town.
We use bio-degradable boxes for the food and glass bottles for the smoothies that we collect, sterilise and re-use.
We donate a fixed amount per lunchbox sold to our partner organisation Lunchbox Fund, which covers exactly one meal for a food-insecure child. 100% of our donated funds are used for the meals for these vulnerable and food-insecure school children.
DELIVERY
We currently deliver our lunch boxes at the following schools in Cape Town: Stepping Stones, Maara House, Huppelland, Disa Park, Growing Minds and Explore + Discover CBD.
If your school is not on this list and you’d like to receive My Lunchbuddy at your school, please pop us a line, and we’ll happily explore the options!
The lunchboxes will be delivered to school between 9 and 10am, in time for the morning snack time.
We carefully label our lunchboxes with the child’s class and name on it and, depending on the school/class, store it in their lockers or another designated place where they can find it.
ORDERING
Simply go to www.mylunchbuddy.co.za and select the offer that is applicable to you.
- If you are a first-time customer at one of our participating schools, we offer a launch special for 2 weeks. If you sign up for 2 weeks (10 days), you’ll get 3 days on us. Thereafter, your subscription automatically ends. If you’d like to continue after these initial 2 weeks, please sign up for our regular plan.
- For returning customers at our participating schools, we offer our regular plan. With this plan, you sign up for a minimum of 2-weeks and your subscription will automatically continue until you pause or cancel, which you can do any time after the initial 2-week period.
Payments will be automatically deducted from your credit card every Friday.
From here, ordering is really simple.
You choose your preferred lunch box (Omnivore Buddy or Vegetarian Buddy) and select the number of days you wish to receive your lunch box, add your smoothie preferences for your selected days (optional), create an account and proceed to our secure payment options & voila, you can enjoy hassle-free mornings soon!
Orders must be in before Thursday 8pm for deliveries starting on the Monday thereafter.
Please note that our ordering system is closed on Fridays. Orders for the following week can be placed again from Saturday onwards.
If you sign up before Thursday 8pm, your subscription will automatically start on the first Monday thereafter, as we need 4-days-notice to include you for that week’s deliveries.
If you sign up after Thursday 8pm, we will include you in the following week’s deliveries, starting on a Monday. Please note that no orders can be processed on Fridays (as this is when payments are processed), so orders for that following week are open again from Saturday onwards.
Please note that we do not deliver during public school holidays, and usually start our deliveries one week into a new school term (which we will confirm at the start of every new term). In weeks with public holidays, we’ll make sure you’re not paying for these days, and the subscription value deducted from your credit card will automatically be adjusted.
Yes, after placing your order you are asked to register / create an account so you can easily access and duplicate your previous order and don’t have to insert your billing and delivery details again in case you’d like to subscribe again in the future.
If you order our launch special, we offer the following payment methods; EFT, PAYFAST, and Snapscan.
PayFast allows you to do an immediate bank transfer. Once you place an order you will be redirected to PayFast’s secure payment gateway.
Snapscan allows you to pay via your mobile phone if you have set this up. You will be redirected to a page showing the Snapscan QR Code for you to scan, and your bank will ask you to type in your secure OTP code for additional security.
If you subscribe to our regular plan, PayFast will ask for your credit card details, and payments will be deducted from your credit card every Friday, until you cancel (with a minimum subscription duration of 2 weeks). So don’t panic if you place your order for example on a Wednesday, and you check out there is a R0 payment shown. This is because the first payment will be deducted on Friday.
Since our will be deducted from your credit card on a Friday each week, the cart value will show zero when you check-out since no payment will be deducted yet, this will go off on the first Friday thereafter.
Yes, if you are a returning customer and sign up for our regular subscription, you can choose to receive a lunch box for 3 / 4 / or 5 days per week, and select your optional smoothie preferences for those days.
At the moment we offer a launch special for 2 weeks (10 days) at our participating schools for first-time customers. After these 10 days, your subscription will automatically end.
We offer a regular plan for returning customers at our participating schools, with a minimum subscription time of 2 weeks (10 days), which automatically continues until you pause or cancel.
With our regular subscription, after the initial first 2 weeks, you can pause or cancel anytime for the week ahead (starting on a Monday) – we just need 4-days-notice. So if you cancel or pause your subscription before Thursday 8pm, this change will be effective the first following Monday.
Similarly, if you want to re-activate your subscription again, and when you do so before Thursday 8pm, you will be included in our deliveries the first following Monday.
Please note that if you cancel your subscription, you’ll need to re-subscribe (and insert your card details etc) to re-activate your subscription again. Pausing is easier as it can be easily re-activated at the click of a button.
At the moment for the Launch Special, it works as follows:
- If you would like to add the same product for another child at the same school or a different school, please use the quantity tab indicated before adding the product to your cart.
- If you would like to add a different product for another child at the same school or a different school, please add a new product to your cart
We offer a discount on our Regular Plan if you have two or three children ordering the same lunch box combo.

- We offer a 5% discount on your total order value if you order for 2 children.
- We offer a 10% discount on your total order value total if you order for 3 children or more.
- To redeem your discount, use the coupon code ‘2buddies’ for 2 children and ‘3buddies’ for 3 children.
- If you would like to add the same product for another child at the same school or a different school, please use the quantity tab indicated before adding the product to your cart.
- If you would like to add a different product for another child at the same school or a different school, after completing your first order, please complete a new order for your other child (unfortunately our subscription system can’t make this any easier, we’re really sorry!), and don’t forget to use your coupon code on both transactions.
- Unfortunately you can’t skip or freeze any days during the 2-week (10-day) launch period.
- For our regular subscription, we offer the flexibility to freeze your package during certain events (private holidays outside the school holidays/ other absence), by pausing your subscription before Thursday 8 pm for the freeze to be activate the first following Monday (for the entire week until you re-activate again). If you only want to freeze it for a few days, just pop us an email 48 hours in advance!
- My Lunchbuddy operates only during the school terms.
Our lunchboxes are suitable for children aged 2-10.
You can easily change your lunch preferences for the regular plan by logging in to your customer account and adjusting your order there. You can also pause, cancel or re-activate your subscription via this dashboard.
All changes, pauses and re-activations must be made before Thursday 8pm to be effective the first following Monday.
